Women's lacrosse brings many people with many different passions and interests together. For this reason there are not always commonalities among the genres these girls participate in. Listed below are some genres that are common throughout Women's Lacrosse.
Music
The most common music genre for women's lacrosse community events is pop music. Teams often listen to pop while warming up for practice or games, This is because it's an energetic genre and gets the team active and excited to play as well as having a fast paced tempo to move to. Also, at team sleepovers pop is the most common genre of music This is probably most likely because it is the most popular genre of music in the age group of Women's Lacrosse players though, not because of anything to do with Women's Lacrosse. See below for a sample warm up playlist from 8tracks.
Written
Some Women's Lacrosse players read Lacrosse Magazine (pictured below). Another common resource Lacrosse players often turn to is the GameBreaker Lacrosse website and blog (linked below), featuring camp sign ups, tips, forums, important changes and tips, and much more. Additionally some players will read the rulebook, especially if they're interested in becoming a referee. Some other things that may be included in the category of written genres are: the numbers on some fields (these are the same as on a football field), the text on the scoreboards including advertisements and scores, numbers and team names on jerseys, social media communication between teammates.
Sports
Most sports are classified into separate categories based on their physical contact, these are a sort of genre for sports. Non-contact sports include things like swimming, running, tennis, and most individual sports as well as some recreational activities like table tennis and bowling. These are classified further into subdivisions. Limited contact sports are much more physical, but not the most physical, these include things like: baseball, gymnastics, and skiing. Lacrosse falls into the genre of collision or contact sports along with other rough sports like football, soccer, and basketball. Just as with traditional genres, these are separated by different approaches to the subject and ways of accomplishing the goal.
